TIG welding (Tungsten Inert Gas) is a well-established and widely used welding process providing high-quality welds particularly in stainless steels and light alloys. Faculty of Technical Sciences in Novi Sad proposed to apply a new concept of activated flux containing highly reactive nanoparticles with the high surface area along cheaper microparticles in a solvent to form a paste or a flux. Overall, it is expected that by developing all nano or hybrid nano-micro flux, significant savings can be made in time, power and consumables to be achieved, as well as a smaller distortion of the weld and possibly a more convenient heat affected zone resulting in higher weld mechanical properties.
